4Summary:
The Spanish Interpreter will provide patient, guardians, and staff access to employees who accurately interpret via face-to-face encounters during designated hours noted in the designated broadcasting system. Spanish Interpreters are bilingual and proficient in English and Spanish to interpret health care information to and from Spanish-speaking patients/guardians and Cook Children's Medical Center Prosper health care providers. Provides Spanish Interpretation and Translation for all aspects of emergency care and inpatient care. Act as a Language Liaison between the patient, guardians, and staff in support of the medical plan of care. Facilitates acquisition of Interpreter Services for non-Spanish Languages (via OPI/over the phone interpreter, VRI/video remote interpreter and/or on-site interpreter contract services).
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Familiarity with medical terminology is an asset
Previous interpretation / translation experience preferred
Spanish interpreters / translators must meet Spanish proficiency levels defined by Cook Children's Health Care System and measured by objective and nationally recognized oral language, reading and writing tests
All applicants are tested to determine their Spanish proficiency level to qualify for employment. Testing is administered by a contracted testing service
CPR - BLS required within 30 days of employment
