Job Summary
Fit and adapt eyewear, complete minor eyeglass repairs. Measure patients for interpupillary distance and segment heights. Assist patients in choosing eyeglass frames and lenses, to best suit their needs and prescription requirements. Perform final inspections using digital lensometers.

Responsibilities*
Navigate OfficeMate/Eyefinity software to enter orders and payments. Place and properly complete/submit all required paperwork for eyeglass orders and insurance claims. Complete minor repairs (realigning frames, replacing broken screws, etc.), greet patients, and always display a positive attitude.
Required to travel to the Brighton location based on staffing needs.
Required Qualifications*
- A training course form a community college or equivalent training program is necessary.
- American Board of Opticianry Certified, or agrees to become certified within 2 years
- Skilled in frame styling, adjusting, and minor frame repairs
- Three years of experience as a dispensing optician
Desired Qualifications*
- ABO certified
- Adept at dispensing eyewear for children
- Proficiency utilizing Officemate (point of sale software)
Work Schedule
Monday-Friday with some evening and weekends possible.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
