Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent, the Fleet Maintenance and Inventory Coordinator receives material shipments and places into storage, issues materials, tools, and equipment to Municipal Light Plant (“MLP”) employees and performs related administrative work to ensure proper inventory records and material charges to projects. Additional primary responsibilities include oversight of fleet maintenance and purchases and the maintenance of building and substation grounds.
Principal activities include: Scheduling and verifying incoming orders and deliveries against requisitions or invoices; Assisting carriers with the unloading of materials and communicates receipt to accounting and line operations; Maintaining inventory of material, tools and equipment and issues same to MLP employees; Works on physical inventory control with Assistant Superintendent and Accounting Supervisor on a continuous basis; Performs comprehensive inventory as necessary; Performs related inventory transactions in the utility enterprise software solution and keeps records as follows: Inventory Item Maintenance, Transaction Entries, Workflow Notifications, Preparation of Requisitions for Material and Equipment, generates custom reporting for inventory items issued, serial numbers, manufacturer, vendor and projects etc. Stores material, equipment and other stock items by using forklift, hand truck or by hand in locations assigned or in a convenient position for removal when needed.
Additional activities include evaluating the condition of all MLP vehicles and maintaining a schedule for the cost-effective replacement of individual vehicles and makes recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent for the purchase of new vehicles; Monitors and schedules preventative maintenance for the entire fleet; oversees the cost and quality of all repairs, works with the Assistant Superintendent to identify and select repair shops that provide the best overall quality of service. Maintains contracts for MLP facilities such as, custodial, landscape maintenance and fleet maintenance. Conducts quality control and safety inspections of facilities, fleet and equipment; ensure the adherence to safe work procedures. Requirements: Familiarity with inventory control, to accurately inventory and re-order materials and supplies. Ability to effectively communicate with many varied individuals. Ability to perform administrative functions including data entry. High School degree or other equivalent. Knowledge of electrical components. Candidate must obtain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with airbrake endorsement within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a valid Massachusetts DPS Hoist Engineers License 1D.
