Essential Duties
The Department seeks candidates for full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will teach in primarily in the undergraduate program. Required course load is 4:4. Graduate teaching opportunities are also available and would require teaching outside of the day schedule. Primary course responsibilities may include undergraduate anatomy and physiology, speech and language disorders in childhood, and clinical procedures. Teaching assignments will depend on the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs. Graduate teaching opportunities may include child language disorders, aphasia, voice, fluency, speech sound disorders, assessment and diagnostics, and dysphagia.The successful candidate must also:Demonstrate ability to use technology effectively in online and in-person teaching, and learning designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Utilize an equity- minded framework to prepare lesson plans which incorporate varied instructional techniques, multi-media, integration strategies designed to meet the educational, culturally relevant, and emotional needs of our students.
Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning. Encourage student success to all students regardless of race.
Faculty members are expected to advise students, contribute service at the department, college and university levels as well as engage in ongoing scholarship and professional activity.
Required Qualifications
A research-based Ph.D. or Ed.D.(terminal degree) in communication disorders or a related field by September 1, 2025.ASHA CCC/SLP and Massachusetts licensure in SLP or eligibility.
Applicants should be strongly committed to excellence in teaching and advising and to working in a multicultural environment that fosters diversity. They should be able to use technology effectively in teaching and learning, work collaboratively, show evidence of scholarly activity, and be committed to public higher education.
ASHA-required supervisory and ethics training.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience beyond the CCC-SLP is required
Some classroom teaching experience at the college level is required
Applicants with any area of specialization will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
3-5 years of clinical experience in adult language disorders/ aphasia, TBI, cognitive disorders, voice, fluency, dysphagia, or other medically related fields are especially desirable.2+ years of classroom teaching experience at the college level
