How will you make a difference?

Your will be responsible of Welding and assembling metal pieces and products by using handheld welding equipment. Sets up parts for welding; uses hand tools, clamps, jigs, and fixtures. Works from specifications, drawings, and weld symbols. Prepares and completes work on materials by welding, cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal.

What do we want to know about you?

High School graduate, or general education degree and two years of experience with GTAW and GMAW processes
Three years minimum industry experience in manufacturing or transportation and/or training.
Possess basic math skills, and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
Welder must be able to pass two welder qualification tests per AWS D1.1: Bevel V-Groove in the Horizontal Position using GMAW process and Fillet T-Joint in the Flat position using GTAW Process. Test will be administered at WPT before position is offered.

What will your typical day look like?

Read blueprints and drawings using GD&T and take or red measurements to plan layout and procedures.
Determine appropriate welding equipment or method based on drawing or material requirements.
Operate angle grinders to prepare and finish dress parts that must be welded.
Set up components for welding according to specifications with proper fit-up.
Align components using calipers, rulers, clamps, fixtures.
Must be able to perform final inspection of welds using proper weld gauges.
Repair fixtures, components or equipment by welding pieces and filling gaps.
Maintain work area and equipment in a condition that assures safety by using 5S principles.

What about the physical demands of the job?

Employee is regularly required to talk and hear and pass yearly vision test.
Employee is required to wear appropriate PPE such as steel toe boots and safety glasses.
Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend, work underneath equipment, reach above shoulders, and climb.
Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Employee will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and occasional exposure to manufacturing fumes or by-products.

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
