The Office of Marketing and Communications invites applications for a Web Strategist.
The Web Strategist supports the University's central website strategies and initiatives, serving as a technical expert within the University's content management system (CMS). The Web Strategist contributes to website strategies and initiatives through content development and optimization, website maintenance, digital marketing campaigns, training and education, and accessibility remediation. This position serves as a central resource for web content best practices, providing guidance to stakeholders from across the University.
Duties Include, but are not limited to:
CMS and web accessibility support
Provides support to University's central content management system (CMS) by managing and responding to website update requests
Serve as technical consultant for CMS and web content to content stakeholders from across the University
Monitors SiteImprove reports for CMS-based websites, working independently to resolve errors and coordinate with other CMS stakeholders to address and remediate accessibility issues
Develop SEO strategy for centrally owned websites; monitor site optimization
Ensure web content complies with University brand standards and marketing communication strategy as set by Office of Marketing & Communications leadership
Monitor and report on website performance (e.g., web analytics) to site owners; make and implement recommendations to improve site performance
Conduct web maintenance on centrally managed sites
Provide input for CMS feature development and functionality
Provide CMS support for units that do not have a designated web/communications marketing specialist
Identify site-wide accessibility issues and collaborate on resolving them; Assist marketing specialists and content contributors with accessibility issues on their sites
Training and Education
Provide CMS training, support and advice to new and established CMS users in the form of one-on-one meetings, workshops, consultations and presentations
Help build CMS training modules in collaboration with Senior Web Strategist and Director of Digital Marketing
Develop CMS training resources
Stay current on web strategy, search engine optimization, digital recruitment strategies, performance marketing, CMS functionality through industry research and attending professional conferences
Serve as expert educational and training resource for the CMS and central web strategies
Provide SiteImprove training in collaboration with Senior Web Strategist
Web strategy and digital initiatives
Coordinate with content stakeholders and marketing specialists on overall website strategy/direction for non-centrally owned webpages
Collaborates with stakeholders on web strategies for centrally owned University websites
Support and contribute to digital marketing campaigns
Conduct research into new programs/methods/platforms to promote the University and its programs
Develop and support digital marketing initiatives (e.g., recruitment; reputation; organic strategies) and coordinate with key stakeholders from varying campus entities (e.g., Office for Prospective Students, The Graduate School)
Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of related work experience; OR
Master's degree and one (1) year of related work experience
Related Experience: Within online web strategy, experience in search engine optimization (SEO), content management systems (CMS), HTML, content planning and editorial calendars, web accessibility and web content writing/editing
