Full Job Description

We are seeking a meticulous and computer-literate Web Content Specialist to join our Content Engineering team at VacationPort. This is a full-time, fully remote position, but preference will be given to candidates based in Oregon or Washington state near the Portland, OR area to be able to attend occasional in-person activities (e.g., company meetings, gatherings and parties, IT assistance, etc.).

In this role, you will manage and maintain travel-related content in our content management systems, write brief and engaging descriptions and summaries about destinations and attractions, ensure data accuracy, and troubleshoot content-related issues. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented person with strong English language skills and an interest in travel. Your work will help ensure that millions of users have access to accurate, appealing travel information.

What You’ll Do

  • Content Entry and Management:
    • Accurately transcribe rich travel data (e.g., itineraries, pricing, descriptions) into our content management tools.
    • Write short, original descriptions/summaries of travel destinations and attractions.
    • Proofread and update existing content to maintain quality, accuracy, and consistency.
    • Utilize basic HTML/CSS for formatting and perform simple photo edits such as cropping and resizing.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct careful reviews of existing content, ensuring information is complete, accurate, and well-presented.
    • Verify correct data placement within the appropriate fields.
  • Customer Support:
    • Address content inquiries, bug reports, and enhancement requests.
    • Communicate professionally and promptly with internal teams and external customers to resolve content issues.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical Skills and Experience:
    • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
    • Basic understanding of HTML and CSS.
    • Familiarity with issue-tracking and content management systems is beneficial.
    • Basic skills with photo editing tools are a plus.
    • Access to a reliable internet connection and a suitable home office environment for remote work.
  • Content and Communication:
    • Excellent English language skills with a strong command of grammar and syntax.
    • Keen attention to detail and accuracy in both data entry and written content.
    • Ability to produce short, engaging descriptive text for a variety of travel destinations and attractions.
    • Ability to attend regular morning team meetings at 8:30 AM PT and effectively manage your time and responsibilities in a fully remote environment.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Self-motivated and disciplined, capable of working independently in a fully remote setting.
    • Adaptable, reliable, and able to meet deadlines.
    • Strong time-management skills and an ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Compensation

  • Starting at $18.00 per hour, with flexibility based on experience.
