Purpose:
Are you ready to drive growth and exceed business expectations in the dynamic world of health insurance? As the VP of Consumer Sales, you'll be at the forefront of expanding our membership in the Individual ACA, Medicare Advantage, and Medicare Supplemental Consumer markets. You'll forge powerful external sales relationships with brokers, partners, community organizations, and more, creating a thriving environment for the CareFirst suite of Consumer products. Your leadership will ensure the seamless operational delivery of an exceptional sales and broker experience.
Essential Functions:
Visionary Leadership: Establish and articulate a bold sales vision, strategy, and objectives to achieve our ambitious annual and strategic business plans. Build a high-performing sales organization by leveraging both internal and external resources to execute these plans effectively.
Strategic Execution: Develop and implement innovative strategies and detailed action plans to drive outstanding results and continuous improvement in our sales operations. Lead the strategic direction for delivering top-tier business support and service for our Medicare products, including the creation of new sales and retention strategies.
Collaborative Excellence: Partner with various leaders across the company and the leadership team to ensure our sales and marketing priorities align seamlessly with our operational capabilities and resources. Stay ahead of State and Federal/CMS mandates, ensuring timely updates and compliance.
Team Empowerment: Oversee both the strategic and day-to-day activities of the department, providing direction, coaching, and guidance to your team. Recruit, retain, and develop a high-performing team, evaluating performance, generating development plans, and setting goals within the framework of corporate policies and procedures. Develop annual goals, and manage departmental budgets to control and allocate resources effectively.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
Experience:
- 10 years of experience in health insurance with at least 5 years in sales and/or product management
- At least 10 years of increasingly responsible management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Sales experience at a national or regional level in Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplemental, or Individual ACA.

Licenses/Certifications:
- Current health and life license for the jurisdictions of Maryland, DC, and Virginia within 90 days.
