The VPIT will serve as a key member of the universitys senior leadership team, overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and management of information systems and technology resources. This individual will ensure that technology supports the institutions mission, enhances the learning environment, and positions the university for future growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership:Develop and execute a strategic vision for technology aligned with the universitys mission and goals.
- Cybersecurity:Oversee the development and implementation of robust cybersecurity measures to protect institutional data and systems.
- Project Management:Lead and prioritize IT projects to improve efficiency, enhance services, and meet institutional needs.
- Personnel Management:Recruit, mentor, and manage a skilled IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
- Instructional Technology:Stay abreast of trends in instructional technology and collaborate with academic leadership to integrate tools that enhance teaching and learning.
- Budget Oversight:Develop and manage the IT departments budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:Partner with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and students to ensure technology solutions meet diverse needs.
Qualifications, Skills and Characteristics
- Education: Bachelors degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Experience: Demonstrated success in IT leadership roles, preferably within higher education or a similar environment.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of information systems, cybersecurity, and instructional technology.
- Strategic Planning: Proven ability to align IT strategy with organizational goals.
- Project and Personnel Management: Experience leading diverse teams and managing complex projects.
- Budgeting: Strong financial acumen and experience managing departmental budgets.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Student-Centered Approach: A commitment to enhancing the student experience through technology.
- Familiarity with Catholic higher education and a willingness to support and contribute to the universitys mission and values.
