Seeking candidates for an Operator position within our company's research laboratories Biologics Pilot Plant (BPP) Operations Team. The person will work on pilot-scale campaigns for the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) manufacture of bulk biologic clinical supplies (vaccines and therapeutic proteins), participating in operations and contributing to manufacturing activities in upstream and downstream processing teams. Assignments encompass aspects of preparation, execution, and closeout of a GMP campaign.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Execute routine upstream and downstream unit operations such as cell culture, virus production, and/or microbial fermentation. Ability to follow instruction and meet regulatory and quality compliance requirements.

  • Ability to develop and master utilization of the facility utilities and the necessary equipment to execute day to day assignments

  • Prepare and closeout campaign documents (e.g., Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Campaign Specific Memos, Batch Record Closeout).

  • Hands-on during the manufacture of GMP batches, and with such activities as equipment cleaning, steam in place

  • Maintains organization of work area including but not limited to inventory of regularly used items, daily preparation, and clean-up

  • Purchase, and receive necessary supplies to support day to day campaign assignments.

  • Support training, GMP, and safety initiatives.

  • The candidate is expected to work in a multi-discipline operating team environment. Some overtime (including weekends) and occasional second and third shift work will be needed.

Education Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diplomawith 1+ year of relevant lab, operations or academic lab experience

  • Certificate or coursework in biomanufacturing or bioprocessing is a plus

Experience and Skills:

Required

  • Work independently and as a Team member

  • Computer literacy in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to prioritize work with strong organizational skills

  • Effective verbal and written communications

  • Expected to lift and move various items up to 50 lbs.

  • Develop and perform specific role and assignments expanding expertise over time to drive independent execution, problem solving, and decision making

  • Knowledge of current GMP regulations.

  • Ability to independently execute assigned, repeatable tasks

  • Technical skills and academic qualifications from experience

Preferred

  • Proficient in SAP

  • Processing of biologicals, or vaccines, and/or process development activities and associated unit operations (cell expansion, fermentation, purification)
