JOB DESCRIPTION

We have an opening to support the National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB). The NPDB improves the quality of health care by encouraging State licensing boards, hospitals and other health care entities, and professional societies to identify and discipline those who engage in unprofessional behavior; and to restrict the ability of incompetent physicians, dentists, and other health care practitioners to move from State to State without disclosure or discovery of previous medical malpractice payment and adverse action history. Adverse actions can involve licensure, clinical privileges, professional society membership, and exclusions from Medicare and Medicaid.

Client is using an agile practice loosely using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and supports a broad range of complex business systems which are instrumental to the NPDB mission.
We are seeking an expert in user experience strategy and design, information architecture (IA), and front- end prototyping.

  • Lead full-scale UX design efforts to include research and evaluation of existing systems
  • Manage the planning, design, and implementation of multiple applications in a fast-paced environment
  • Lead all phases of user research and analysis needed to inform the creation of highly usable web pages, application interfaces, and other dynamic solutions
  • Collaborate with the development team and subject matter experts to define, design, and implement intuitive solutions
  • Create wireframes, protoypes, and other artifacts to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Create design resources to aid in project collaboration.

Skills

  • Strong UX design experience
  • 8+ years combined professional design experience (UCD, UI/UX design)
  • Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a design related degree (e.g. Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, Human Factors, etc.).
  • NPDB Public Trust required prior to start
  • Strong knowledge of Interaction Design, Service Design, Design Research, Information Architecture
  • Expertise in user research methodologies, user-centered design principles and frameworks, and user interface design standards
  • Advanced understanding of user personas, user flows, and other research tools
  • Strong understanding of the life cycle process of website development (discovery, planning, design, requirements, coding, testing, and user testing and evaluation)
  • Experience evaluating existing systems and processes to identify UX issues and develop UX recommendations
  • Experience designing web or mobile applications that are compliant with 508 and US Web Design System (USWDS) standards
  • Experience prioritizing features while balancing user goals, business goals and technology constraints.
  • Experience carrying designs from start to finish, from wireframes to delivery of final high- fidelity mockups
  • Self-starter, motivated, confident and has ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Successful experience on projects designed from scratch as well as redesigns for established platforms or products
  • Proficient in the use of prototyping tools, Axure preferred.
  • Experience using Agile methodology and Lean UX design principles.
