The position is located at the Missile Defense Integration & Operation Center (MDIOC), at Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Overview
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Training and Exercises team, as a Training System Integrator (TSI). The TSI supports warfighter training, exercises, and wargames, using the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Fire Control & Communications (GFC/C) system, on the GMD System Trainer (GST).
Essential Functions
• Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
• Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
• Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Responsibilities Include:
• Operate and maintain the GFC/C system for daily sustainment training and exercises at the MDIOC facility.
• Interface daily with MDIOC, internal, external, and Government personnel during training, system modifications/upgrades, and exercises.
• Develop and determine system configuration solutions to meet customer requirements.
• Provide support to new hardware and/or software installations for all GST systems at MDIOC.
• Support local test and checkout procedures to verify new systems are ready for integration into the training system.
• Configure GFC systems using UNIX/LINUX command line interface and other delivered tools.
• Operate the GST system for daily training including verification of training configuration, ensuring all systems function properly.
• Work with MDIOC GMD teammates to determine and resolve any GFC, network, or other simulation issues.
• Identify/report anomalies and perform daily system cleanup.
Daily Duties Include:
• Ensure correct start up and operation of the GFC/C Training System
• Coordinate with contractor and Government personnel to schedule training systems and de-conflict them with other activities
• Verification/modification of training configurations
• Operation of both GFC/C training system and the simulation system including coordination with MDIOC and external agencies
• Maintain necessary documentation
• Manage System logs
• Evening shift and weekend work will be required.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 0 years of experience
• DoD Secret security clearance required
• Technical analysis and technical communications experience
• Proactive, Self-starter, eager to learn and assist customer with GMD/GFC
• Work effectively on a small team with multiple external teammates and customers
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working in a classified environment at a government-based facility
• Current active DoD Secret clearance
• GMD / GFC/C experience
• GFC/C and GMD system knowledge
• Command and Control, radar, missile systems training or operational support
• Test, integration, networking experience
• Experience working on UNIX/Linux platforms
Salary Range: $81,300 - $121,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
