Job Summary
Information and Technology Services (ITS) at the University of Michigan is looking for a Telecommunication Installation Project Senior Manager that will be responsible for coordination and management of all phases of a new construction or major renovation telecommunications complex projects involving 100 or more connections, to ensure user satisfaction, project continuity and internal consistency. Manage professional, technical, and non-technical staff by establishing performance measures, goals and priorities, providing direction and feedback, and ensuring assigned projects/tasks are completed by the specified due date. The job position combines management, sales, technical expertise and financial responsibilities and will report to the Telecom Installation Project Management Manager.

Responsibilities*
- Manage, coordinates and implements multiple complex projects for all phases/types of new construction or major renovations of communication systems projects involving over 100 connections, including the execution of the resources for 4-6 major units with multiple departments on the Ann Arbor, Flint, and Dearborn campuses.
- Design and recommends solutions to meet goals and are cost-effective. This includes: gathering information for the scope, preparation of cost and time estimates for installation, bid specifications, implementation, and operation of information technology equipment and software, timelines, tracking of milestones, provides status reports, and exchanges of relevant information with partners, sponsors, management and project teams promptly and ensuring user satisfaction, project continuity and timely delivery of services. Identify and mitigate project risks and manages issues.
- Manage the triple constraint of scope, schedule, and budget throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build and manage relationships with vendors and contractors, to ensure equipment, services procured and installed, meet requirements, and specifications agreed upon and ensuring compliance for licensing, operating, installation and technical performance of communication components or facilities.
- Articulates and shows the services, values and ethics of the organization. Collaborate with team members, sponsors, and partners across ITS and UM to influence decision-making, project direction, and achieve successful project completion. Collaborate with all levels of management and staff to provide strategic advice on project planning and execution.
- Stay current with relevant advances in technologies, trends and new services offered in ITS. Develop and follow best practices and shares knowledge with team members. Mentor and trains staff.
- Foster mutually beneficial relationships with customers; train and consult on communications services and technologies; and help to facilitate the resolution.
Required Qualifications*
- Bachelor's degree in computer systems, engineering, business or a related field or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of project management experience
- Experience in the information technology industry demonstrating technical or business expertise, and resolution of complex technical or business issues.
- Experience leading project teams to meet customer expectations.
- Experience in client/vendor relationship management, systems analysis, and strategic planning.
- Experience organizing and working in a matrix organization with cross-functional project teams and managing multiple projects.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new service technologies quickly and to understand technical information and communicate it to others using clear, and user-friendly language.
- Demonstrated ability to handle requests for emergency or quick turnaround, coordinate multiple and complex voice, data, video, WiFi, HiCap/Special Circuit projects.
- Demonstrated basic proficiency in reading and understanding AutoCAD drawings.
