The Sustaining Engineering group ensures the continued and reliable operation of our trace heaters, components, and electronics. Through cross-functional collaboration the Sustaining Engineer will provide technical expertise to qualifications, process changes, quality investigations, value chain resilience, cost reductions, product improvements, root cause analyses, and product assurance measures.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Be a technology architect, devising and developing department strategies for the improvement of techniques and programs. Achieve alignment among departmental and cross-functional peers.

  • Discover and integrate emerging technologies.

  • Develop project plans and manage project execution achieving expected results while ensuring long-term technical fortitude.

  • Perform testing, research, and data gathering, charting, analysis, and recording.

  • Conduct electrical, material, and mechanical investigations.

  • Propose, develop, and support product and process improvements, cost reductions, product enhancements.

  • Devise and implement innovative test methods and instrumentation.

  • Disseminate knowledge by writing technical reports, giving seminars, composing standard work, and training colleagues.

  • Be the subject matter expert for multiple families of industry-leading products.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

  • Ideally 8+ years of experience with preference for polymer, electrical, and mechanical testing and R&D.

  • Implemented projects requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and modification of standard techniques, procedures, algorithms, workflow, and criteria.

  • Ability to work unsupervised with technical consultation on complex problems.

  • Strong data analysis skills.

  • Strong desire to improve processes, introduce automation, and drive standardization.

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on team dynamics. Influence with peers and comfort reporting out to leadership.

  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software, with preference for Enovia, is a plus.

Pay Transparency

nVent’s pay scale is based on the expected range of base pay for this job and the employee’s work location. Employee pay within this range will be based on a combination of factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, education, and performance. Where federal, state, or local minimum wage requirements exist, employee pay will comply.

Compensation Range:

$107,100.00 - $198,900.00
