Overview
This role is a fun, dynamic, and innovative position within the Repligen team that produces single-use state-of-the-art single use components and innovative storage and transfer systems that optimize fluid transfer and reduces the number of connections in biopharmaceutical industry equipment. This role requires substantive knowledge and experience in designing, machining, and implementing new injection molds and tools, as well as improving on existing injection molds and tools. The mold and tool designer position would design robust injection molds that consider customer standards along with manufacturing best practices. This role is not limited to designing injection molds and tools but also includes designing fixtures, jigs, and other precision equipment for manufacturing use.
Responsibilities
- Subject matter expert in producing basic to complex mold and tool designs using CAD software.
- Subject matter expert in the design theory of silicone and plastic injection.
- Lead collaborator with Manufacturing, Process, and Application Engineers, Engineering Technicians, Tooling Machinists as well as Quality representatives.
- Recommend adjustments to runners, gates, drafts, cores etc.
- Research and develop Bills of Materials as well as specifications of the molds and tools.
- Responsible for achieving deadlines in design, manufacture and delivery of molds and tools to Process Engineers.
- Responsible for submitting purchase requisitions to initiate and procure mold and tools.
- Mentor junior level engineers.
- Responsible for estimating mold and tool costs.
- Lead Design Review meetings with technical teams.
- Contact vendors to quote custom molds and tools as needed.
- Work with multiple teams on production improvement projects.

The estimated hourly rate for this role, based in the United States of America is $47-55. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including, but not limited to an individual's qualifications, location, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
