Job Description:
Our client is looking to hire a Senior Underwriter to join their team remotely.
Job Description:
- Manage Books of Business with up to 150,000 members and representing up to $400,000,000 in premium or premium equivalent.
- Apply data analytics across book of business to identify trends or patterns and take corrective action as required.
- Has the authority to make limited exceptions to standard underwriting policy and make underwriting recommendations to underwriters and associate underwriters
- Manage and report monthly and YTD on all assigned financial and performance metrics as well as develop and produce ad hoc reports.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Department regarding their Business Segment and Corporate Projects.
- Analyze underwriting risk and determine premium rates for fully insured contracts and recommends funding rates for Administrative Services Only (ASO) contracts.
- Proactively utilize strong technical expertise to make recommendations regarding benefit plan design, stop loss levels, network feasibility and funding options to internal and external customers.
- Actively participate in final rate negotiations and presentations with our large clients.
- Recommend underwriting process and system changes resulting in enhanced productivity.
- Participate in the Underwriting Department’s strategic and tactical planning.
- Coach less experienced underwriters on matters related to risk selection and mitigation, data analytics and integrated goal management.
- Assist with the development and provision of training to the underwriting staff, sales staff, and other departments in the principles and practices of underwriting and rating.
Hiring Requirements
• Bachelors degree or advanced degree (where required)
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.
