Our accounting team is looking for an experienced Sr. Manager of Cost Accounting to report to the Director of Cost Accounting. This role will primarily focus on the cost accounting for our gene therapy manufacturing plant located at Bedford, MA., and will maintain global inventory costing for our products. The Sr. Manager, Cost Accounting will also prepare product cost analyses for clinical and pre-clinical stage products to support management’s financial decisions and for import/export valuation purposes. This position will work closely with the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality groups to track inventory movements and costs. The Senior Manager, Cost Accounting will collaborate with other members of the accounting team in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls in the pursuit of operational excellence.
Work Model:
Flex: This role will typically require onsite work 2-3 days each week, or more depending on business needs. In many locations, the business will set certain days each week that Flex employees are required to be onsite.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain global inventory valuations by running an inventory sub-ledger costing process (Oracle OPM).
- Maintain costing for internally manufactured products. Review and update item costs by closely working with the Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality departments.
- Analyze department expense data and prepare overhead capitalization to the cost of production.
- Monitor overhead absorption rates and production schedules to adjust the overhead application, as necessary.
- Prepare cost adjustments and journal entries to ensure accurate costing.
- Prepare inter-company inventory transaction journal entries.
- Perform inventory and COGS account reconciliations, and monthly period-end accruals.
- Responsible for 404 compliance for direct areas of responsibility and support overall 404 compliance. This includes evaluation, development, implementation, execution, and monitoring of controls and systems.
- Work with the IT team on system configuration and troubleshooting.
- Analyze inventory risk for obsolescence and maintain an accounting of inventory reserves.
- Perform/coordinate/monitor cycle count and physical inventory counts at external CMOs and 3PLs.
- Assist the Supply Chain with the inventory valuation for import/export purposes.
- Other ad-hoc projects as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or related field. Master of accounting or MBA preferred.
- Seven+ years of progressive cost accounting experience or accounting experience with a strong knowledge of various methodologies for costing.
- CPA and/or public audit experience with manufacturing inventory and costing is strongly preferred.
- Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., Oracle/SAP) strongly desired
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit background
- Work in a precise and efficient manner. Execute assigned tasks within agreed upon deadlines.
- Experience in biotechnology or pharmaceutical environment a plus #LI-CS1 #LI-Hybrid

This range reflects the characteristics of the job, such as required skills and qualifications and is based on the office location noted in this job posting. The range may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
This position is eligible for annual bonus and equity incentives. Actual individual pay is determined by demonstrated experience and internal equity alignment.
