Senior Manager, Category Management - Walmart
PURPOSE -
- As a Category Advisor for the Shelf Stable Seafood category, you will be devoted to assisting the StarKist sales team and Walmart Shelf Stable Protein buyer in improving brick & mortar and Omni modular and assortment strategies and execution via your insights development, industry perspective, and data-led storytelling skills.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES -
- Proactively develop collaborative relationships with our retail partners to be viewed as a trusted resource for category insights and objective growth opportunities
- Support the development of category strategy and assists customer with integrated category strategy development
- Develop strong working relationships with category leadership, buyers and cross functional departments
- Support the development of customer specific presentations of relevant consumer insights, competitive responses, and new item/category selling strategies
- Deliver fully integrated consumer, shopper, category and marketplace insights and trends to guide strategic choices and tactical executions, to drive market leading growth for the short and long term
- Conduct robust customized retailer analysis using national research, category management capabilities, analytical tools, and data visualization to identify and communicate business opportunities or challenges
- Lead modular drawing process, including Customer strategy development, merchandising layout, adjacencies, assortment optimization, pack-out compliance, and versioning of set sizes. Quantify cluster and modular-specific opportunities.
- Evaluate space to sales performance, competitive insights, industry and retail best practices, and highlight gaps and growth opportunities
- Work with your buyer to develop and execute modular strategies that align with customer's goals
- Synthesize multiple data sources including Luminate, POS, Household Panel and consumer research to craft actionable recommendations across assortment, merchandising, pricing and shelving.
- Advise on development of critical initiatives to include Omnichannel engagement and expansion into adjacent categories.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES -
- 7+ Years CPG experience, with minimum 3 years as Walmart Category Advisor. Also experience in Category Management/Shopper Insights preferred.
- Ability to influence decision makers across all levels of internal and external organizations.
- Proactively translate data into insights and business solutions.
- Mastery of syndicated POS, household panel and primary/secondary consumer/shopper insights.
- Strong proficiency in computer applications (Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI, Tableau).
- Ability to learn new software and tools to improve efficiency in achievement of key responsibilities.
- Proficiency in syndicated and household panel data (IRI, Nielsen, Luminate).
- Proficiency using Space Management applications (Apollo, Spaceman, JDA Space Planning, Planogram Generator).
- Proficiency with Luminate Charter a plus.
- Approximately 15% travel required.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
- Time management - able to prioritize multiple tasks.
- B.S. or B.A. degree.
