JOB DESCRIPTION
Apex is seeking a dynamic Senior Consultant with strong consultative and problem-solving skills to join the US & Canada practice as part of Apex Systems’ Solutions Delivery Organization. This role will contribute to hybrid teams of internal and external product managers, analysts, and engineers to design, develop, and deliver digital solutions for Apex clients. This role will also provide technical subject matter expertise in web application development and will help to mentor Apex Systems’ internal consultants in their career growth and development. This role will be responsible for client deliverables as well as collaboration with other technical consulting professionals at Apex.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain web applications. Participate in architecture/design sessions and contribute to technical documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including UX/UI to define, design, and develop new features.
- Optimize components for maximum performance across a vast array of web-capable devices and browsers.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Troubleshoot and debug issues to ensure smooth application performance.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
- Mentor and coach junior developers in the team on best practices and methodologies.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
- Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders.
- Meet project deadlines and take responsibility for engagement success.
- Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement.
- Stay current on relevant technology trends and practices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of experience in software development and engineering.
- 3+ years hands-on experience developing modern web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript technology stack.
- Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles, including advanced patterns like Hooks, Context API, and performance optimization techniques. Angular and Vue experience is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model.
- Experience with Redux, Flux, or other modern state management solutions (including React’s Context API) in a React environment.
- Experience with HTML/CSS. Familiarity with CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass, LESS) or CSS-in-JS libraries is a plus.
- Hands-on experience using Node.js, with expertise in integrating backend services via GraphQL, RESTful APIs, or Apollo.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
- Knowledge of modern authorization mechanisms, such as JSON Web Token.
- Practical experience with test automation and frameworks like Cypress, Jest, Mocha, or Enzyme.
- Familiarity with modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
- Working experience with React Native is a plus.
- Experience with common front-end build tools such as Webpack is a plus.
- Experience with modern React frameworks (Next.js, Gatsby, Remix) is a plus.
- Comfortable performing code reviews and driving Sprint goals in an Agile environment.
- Successful candidates will also be enthusiastic about Test Driven Development, functional programming principles, pair programming, and approaching problems with the mindset of serving as an advocate for the end user.
- Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the aptitude to quickly identify gaps and risks.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Prior experience working in a large-scale organization preferred.
- Experience with microservices architecture, containerization (e.g., Docker), and CI/CD pipelines is highly desirable.
- BA/BS preferred in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields (applicable education and experience may be substituted)
