The Senior Account Specialist leads and manages the activities to support new business quoting, selling, and the retention and maintenance of existing accounts including the sale of additional lines of coverage, across multiple market segments and funding arrangements. The Senior Account Specialist is responsible for system configuration of new and renewal quotes and policies in addition to supporting the implementation activities that involve leveraging strong technical competencies, understanding of complex benefit design, and Premera’s operational structure and standards to best support the group setup across multiple departments while maintaining a positive customer experience.
This position must be available for on-site client meetings and events in the Seattle, WA area.
What you will do:
- Develop, document, and implement group specific work plans defining activities necessary to ensure successful implementation of new and renewal groups.
- Identify and address customer’s critical technical and non-technical issues, and coordinate necessary activities including educating the customer as needed on Premera’s various tools and procedures.
- Monitor the customers experience, identify potential problems and trends, and work with account/sales team to ensure effective and timely implementation of the necessary remedies to ensure optimal customer experience. Assist with creation and delivery of root cause analysis reports on either product or process breakdowns as required.
- Ensure that producer and/or employer group data submissions are accurate, complete and meet assigned deadlines. Responsible for maintaining business applications and systems to ensure timely, complete, and accurate reporting and process.
- Perform activities such as preparing group proposals, renewal exhibits and handle broker authorization letters.
- Provide backup for Account Team/Sales Executive by responding to brokers, agents and/or groups regarding benefits, underwriting guidelines, multiple lines of business and other miscellaneous information.
- Act as central resource for client information. Develop and maintain client reference documents including benefit structure documents, client contact lists, account structure documents, account history, account decisions, as well as client specific communication plans, annual plans, reporting schedules, and action logs.
- Participate in and facilitate on-site client meetings and events. Lead routine client meetings as assigned. Coordinate and assist clients at their site with benefit fairs, open enrollment activities and communications of benefit changes. Coordinate communications tactics including client specific strategies and pieces.
- May provide guidance and expertise to less experienced staff and may complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Act as Sales SME for system UAT, or other assigned project work.
What you will bring:
- An Associates degree or two years’ work experience (Required).
- Five (5) years of work experience (Required) including:
• Three (3) years of insurance industry experience including benefits administration, enrollment and/or account structure experience (Required).
• Five (5) years customer service experience (Required). - Possess or obtain within 60 days Agent's license and appointed with Office of Insurance Commissioner (Required).
- Bachelors’ degree.
- Knowledge of Premera products, operations, policies and underwriting guidelines.
- Experience working with large group employers and various funding arrangements.
- Experience with Seibel or other CRM application.
- A background or understanding of Association health plans.

The pay for this role will vary based on a range of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s geographic location, market conditions, and specific skills and experience.
The salary range for this role is posted below; we generally target up to and around the midpoint of the range.
National Salary Range:
$57,100.00 - $91,400.00National Plus Salary Range:
$65,100.00 - $104,200.00*National Plus salary range is used in higher cost of labor markets including Western Washington and Alaska.
