Role Overview:

In this role you will assist in fabrication and cleaning of road signs. Additionally you will be trained to work on multiple machines for fabrication of different parts of sign fabrication. You will also assist in gathering all parts necessary to build orders and ship to INDOT locations.

  • Schedule:Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:00pm.
  • Overtime will be offered but it is not mandatory.
  • No weekend shifts.

Salary:

This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.

Location:

This position is located in INDOT's Eastern Indianapolis area.

A Day in the Life:

The essential elements of the job duties:

  • Assisting in the fabrication of road signs.
  • Operating a Hydro-Stripper to clean film off old signs.
  • Operating various machines to prep aluminum signs for fabrication.
  • Apply Sheeting to blank sign material.
  • Packaging signs for delivery
  • Assist with loading signs and other materials on truck for delivery.
  • Maintain neat and organized workstation.
  • Assist with cutting Steel I Beams to specified lengths for delivery.

What You'll Need for Success:

You must have the following requirements to be considered for employment:

  • Valid high school diploma or GED; or preferred one (1) year of related work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to perform daily duties independently and/or with other people.
  • Must have knowledge about Excel, Microsoft, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to take orders on which tasks need to be completed.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and communicate clearly.
  • Pay attention to details and have an organizational Skills and Time management.

Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:

This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
