Responsibilities*
Works independently on collection of data and analyzes research results. Prepares reports and drafts manuscripts, along with presenting data at national conferences. Develop experimental protocols as needed, in addition to performing routine molecular biology work, including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and immunostaining, as well as animal work including injecting drugs to mice, collecting and processing mouse tissues, and performing histological analyses. Maintains and monitors an animal breeding colony and will serve has health contact for core animals. Collecting and processing mouse tissues, performing histological analyses. Has oversight for day-to-day operation of laboratory. Trains users in equipment operation and laboratory techniques. Mentor's junior researchers, including undergraduates.
Required Qualifications*
The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Immunology, Cellular & Molecular Biology or a related discipline along with a master's degree. The candidate must have 3 or more years of experience in mouse handling/breeding, mouse disease models, mouse tissue collection, and injections (subcutaneous and intraperitoneal). The candidate must have 4 or more years of biomedical laboratory research experience. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills. Excellent attendance record.

Knowledge of School of Dentistry policies and procedures. Knowledge of University of Michigan policies and procedures. Doctorate degree.

Underfill Statement
Salary range for the Intermediate level is $50,000-$62,000 depending on qualifications and experience. This position may be filled at the underfill Associate level. Starting salary and position are dependent upon the qualifications and experience. The requirements listed above reflect the Intermediate level, but those with varied experience are encouraged to apply. Salary range for the Associate level is $43,000- $51,000. Work experience of 2 or more years is required along with a bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Immunology, Cellular & Molecular Biology or a related discipline for the Associate level.
Additional Information
This is a 1 year term appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon performance and funding. The salary range quoted for this position reflects 100% effort (40 hours per week).
