The University of Washington Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine has a faculty position available at the rank of Research Assistant Professor to be based at the Mitochondria and Metabolism Center located at the South Lake Union Campus. Research Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. This is a non-tenure track full-time position with an anticipated start date of July 2025 or thereafter. The base salary range for this position will be $6,500 -- $8,500 per month ($78,000 - $102,000 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a US Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research program of understanding disease mechanisms and developing novel therapies. Specifically, this position will focus on determining the role of mitochondrial function and dysfunction in human diseases, especially heart diseases. Positive factors for consideration include but are not limited to excellence in biomedical research, experience in molecular biology techniques, surgical skills in small animal disease models, experience in systems biology approaches, and proven track records of outstanding publication and securing extramural funding.
Qualifications
PhD or foreign equivalent in biochemistry or molecular biology, and a minimum of three years of postdoctoral training.
