Job Summary

We are seeking an undergraduate student researcher to assist with our project entitled:  "Effective Integration of Computational Skills into College of Health Sciences Curriculum and Research" which aims at enhancing the integration of computational skills in the health related curriculum at UM-Flint.  In this role, you will collaborate with faculty and students to identify specific computational needs, develop effective teaching solutions, and help implement these solutions in health science courses.  A unique opportunity to gain a hands-on experience in education research while contributing to a project that prepares students for future careers in various health related fields.

This position is for 6-10 hours per week from Mid-October 2024 to April 30, 2025.

Responsibilities*

  • Perform routine research tasks, including library research
  • Assist in developing surveys, interview questions and study protocols
  • Participate in group observation activities
  • Administer questionnaires and conduct interviews and/or focus groups
  • Collect, analyze, code and tabulate data

Required Qualifications*

  • Current undergraduate student in good standing at the University of Michigan-Flint
  • Completed one class in statistics, epidemiology or computer science
  • Available at least 6 to 10 hours per week

Desired Qualifications*

  • Undergraduate student in a health related field such as public health or healthcare administration
  • Enrolled in BS/MPH program
  • Familiarity with computational tools or software relevant to health sciences (e.g., data analysis software, programming languages)

Modes of Work

Hybrid:

The work requirements allows both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence.  On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or the designee and/or the job requirements.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.  Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, for any reason, throughout the course of employment.  Learn more about the work modes here.
