Job Overview
The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for creating comprehensive training curricula that align with the organization’s goals, ensuring content is relevant and engaging. They assess training needs, create development plans, and ensure alignment with business goals. This role involves collaborating with department heads, facilitating workshops, and monitoring the effectiveness of training initiatives to promote continuous learning, employee engagement, and career advancement opportunities. Additionally, they help identify high-potential employees for leadership roles, ensuring a strong talent pipeline for the company’s future success. The Learning & Development Manager will support teammates in navigating their career paths and maximizing their professional opportunities. They will collaborate with business partners to drive organizational development initiatives and promote teammate development.
Duties & Responsibilities
Training Program Design
- Develop and implement effective training programs tailored to organizational needs, employee engagement, and workforce optimization.
- Partner with functional leaders to understand business needs and translate them into learning development strategies.
- Utilize tools and technology to track, monitor and report results.
Employee Development & Performance Management
- Partner with department leaders to identify critical skills needed for future projects and initiatives.
- Create tailored training and development plans to address skill gaps and future talent needs.
Teammate Engagement & Retention
- Collaborate with leadership teams to foster a culture of engagement and continuous improvement.
- Conduct regular surveys, analyze feedback, and develop action plans for improvement.
Teammate Experience
- Manage & Execute Teammate On-Boarding Experience & Learning Center experience.
Capability Building
- Develop and enhance the skills knowledge and competencies of teams and teammates.
- Provide teammates with tools and learning opportunities they need to acquire new skills and enhance existing ones.
- Lead & facilitate training initiatives.
Teammate Development Programs
- Design and implement teammate development initiatives that align with organizational goals.
- Use metrics and KPIs to evaluate the success of teammate development programs and make data-driven improvements to strategies.

- Prior experience in Training & Development, Human Resources, and Teammate Development

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Human Resources, Education, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in training or L&D roles, preferably within transportation, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations, FMCSA requirements, and other transportation-related compliance standards.
- Understanding of driver training, safety protocols, and onboarding processes in a logistics environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to train both field and office employees.
- Proficiency in training design and delivery methods, including classroom, virtual, and on-the-job training.
- Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and reporting tools.
- Ability to engage diverse audiences, including drivers, technicians, warehouse personnel, and management teams.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple training schedules and locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Logistics, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications like CPTD (Certified Professional in Talent Development) or a safety-related certification (e.g., Certified Director of Safety).
- 5+ years of experience designing and implementing training programs in transportation or logistics.
- Experience conducting driver orientation programs, safety training, or hazardous materials (HAZMAT) training.
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and telematics software used in driver performance management.
- Experience with eLearning tools and training technologies tailored for remote or mobile workforces.
- Deep knowledge of DOT, OSHA, HOS (Hours of Service), and other transportation safety regulations.
- Proven experience developing training programs to meet audit and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to align training programs with operational KPIs such as safety incidents, delivery performance, and compliance scores.
- Experience collaborating with departments like operations, HR, and safety to develop cross-functional training initiatives.
