In this role you will be responsible for leading the technical and nutritional support within Virginia. You will work to grow sales with specific end users and prospects through a consultative approach and education. You will assist in sales with overall technical leadership to the producers, sales teams and co-ops/dealers in the territory.
In addition, you will also be responsible for smaller sales territory lead the initiatives to gain and grow the business within that geography.
This is a remote (virtual) field-based position that must be located in the Southern Virginia territory. Lynchburg, VA would be a ideal location.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Nutrition Sales Professionals in providing education and solutions for beef cattle producers.
- Work both individually and through Purina sales professionals, helping dealer nutritionists, customers, and prospects to mutually benefit by providing the right recommendations for multi-species nutrition and management practices.
- Be the lead in beef cattle nutrition and beef cattle education for the sales team and our dealer group.
- Demonstrate strategic and tactical planning skills necessary to provide solutions-based selling of value-add technologies.
- Serve as a key liaison with local beef industry.
- Communicate with the Purina beef cattle technical team and research staff to lead innovative research, product development, and local implementation of new value-added products.
- Maintain a high level of proficiency and competency in beef, equine, and small ruminant nutrition, production management, and selling skills through recommended training.
- Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned or requested.
Experience-Education-Skills:
- Masters degree in Beef Cattle nutrition or related
- 3 - 5 years' industry and/or university experience highly desired
- Solid understanding of animal husbandry, current management practices, and nutritional guidelines.
- Enjoys and prefers working in the field with producers, nutritionists, and feed dealer teams.
- Daily travel within the territory- approximately 1-2 overnights per week
- Enjoys working with people, competing as a team, and providing profitable solutions to customers, local dealers and Purina.
- Self-motivated with excellent time management skills who plans for growth and opportunity.
- Effective communication skills in various settings.
- Computer skills; including ration balancing software, PC Dart, DC305 and Office applications (Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong Leadership Skills, Customer Focused, Action Oriented
Base salary $80,000 - $110,000 doe. Incentives are driven by individual and team performance
