Job Summary

The University of Michigan-Flint Office of Information Technology Services is looking for a Project Engineer Intermediate. Reporting to the IT PMO Manager, you will focus on the successful completion of different types of projects, including a digital accessibility compliance initiative. You will manage long-term projects within budget and schedule, collaborating with a diverse team to ensure compliance with U-M and federal guidelines.

Responsibilities*

  • Project Planning & Execution: Create and manage detailed project plans that maintain scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Team Coordination: Lead teams, coordinate efforts, and provide input for evaluations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate goals and progress, and establish reporting mechanisms for all team members.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure digital content accessibility, implement necessary tools and training, and enforce procurement procedures.
  • Risk Management: Find and address potential risks, addressing challenges with third-party content.
  • Continuous Improvement: Set guidelines for redesigns and developments, and promote accessibility monitoring tools.

Required Qualifications*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience in a related field.
  • Certification in project management or equivalent training.
  • 3 years of experience in a directly related IT project management or engineering role.
  • Experience with both developing and managing complex project plans, timelines, and budgets.
  • Experience explaining technical concepts to non-technical team members and senior management.
  • Knowledge of digital accessibility standards and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards.

Modes of Work

Hybrid

The work requirements allow both onsite and offsite work and an employee has an expected recurring onsite presence. On occasion, the employee may be required and must be available to work onsite more frequently if necessitated by unit leadership or their designee and/or the job requirements.

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes here.

Background Screening

The University of Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
