Position Overview
Treehouse Builders seeks a dynamic Project Accountant to join our construction accounting team. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience overseeing preparation of monthly pay application billings, managing change orders, and keeping projects on budget. This individual will ensure that project ledgers and other accounting records are in accordance with GAAP and any other required basis of accounting and will work closely with our Operations team. Experience within Real Estate Development or Construction is a must.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare monthly pay applications which includes:
- Gathering and reviewing subcontractor invoices and lien waivers
- SOV management and owner change order tracking
- Executing the pay application and submitting to owner on or before the deadline
- Execute all subcontractor and owner change orders including all proper attachments and backup.
- Handle the job cost tracking and accounting for several ground-up development projects simultaneously.
- Work alongside the Treehouse Operations team to ensure accuracy of billings and costs including proper budget coding on all subcontractor invoicing.
- Perform budget to actual variance analysis monthly or as requested and present results to the Operations team.
- Perform month end revenue and cost analysis and other month end responsibilities as requested.
- Responsible for maintaining all budget information within the ERP system.
- Resolve issues with subcontractors and vendors firmly and effectively.
- Evaluate and suggest improvements to processes and procedures.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- 3+ years of experience within construction accounting as a Project Accountant
- Demonstrated experience creating templates and trackers to handle a significant level of construction transactions
- Intermediate Excel skills
You'll crush it if you have experience with
- Updating/maintaining accounting policies around development, construction contracts, and G702/G703 applications
- Handling accounting for $50M+ projects simultaneously
- Hands-on Job Cost and project management accountability
