Summary:
The Voigts Lab at HHMI Janelia is looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to lead a project investigating the neural mechanisms by which rodents use internal models of the world to guide decisions. The lab combines cutting-edge experiments that leverage naturalistic behavior, large-scale electrophysiology, and quantitative methods. Learn more about our work here
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Design complex naturalistic animal behavior experiments, using theoretical and numerical methods.
Explore and analyze neural data with data science and machine learning methods.
Participate in collaborative projects with computational and theoretical researchers.
Qualifications:
Education:
Ph.D. degree in any STEM discipline
Skills and Abilities:
Programming, preferentially some familiarity with Python or Matlab
Experience working with rodents (optional)
Experience with neural recordings (ephys or imaging) or other neural techniques (optional)
Ability to work collaboratively
Physical Requirements:
Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).

Compensation:
An Associate 00 is compensated at a rate of $74,200.00 annually at HHMI's Janelia Research Campus.
