$60.265 - $77.761 - $95.258The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Primary responsibility for expanding and implementing deferred and major gifts programs. Includes prospect identification, cultivation and solicitation, grant writing and special projects. Presentations to prospective donors including charitable gift and estate planning seminars as well as conducting due diligence on proposed gifts and finalized donations. Serves as primary fund raiser for Hospice program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Other : Certification of completion of one or more comprehensive training programs in the field of gift planning.
- 5 Years experience on fund raising staff of philanthropic institution.
- experience in running a successful capital campaign and annual giving program.

Essential Functions
- Fundraising
Serve as a key member of the Foundation fund raising team, interacting extensively with major/planned gift donors, helping to establish direction of the Foundation. Serve as primary contact for Hospice Major and Planned Gift fundraising efforts.
Attend a minimum of one conference annually directly related to major and or planned giving issues. - Leadership
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Foundation board members and key volunteers.
Responsible for monitoring investment performance, fiduciary compliance, and gift acceptance policies. - Planned gifts
Design, implement, and execute an annual marketing program focused on bequests, or other deferred gift arrangements that is targeted to our constituents and coordinated with other Foundation activities. May include direct mail campaigns, seminars and recognition events.
Attend Sharp HealthCare Foundation events for advisors.
Act as liaison between prospects and advisors.
Make appropriate referrals and provide information on Grossmont Hospital as needed.
Cultivate relationship by cards, updates, invitations etc.
Continue to stay current with all new gift planning arrangements and tax laws pertaining to planned gifts. - Reports
Produce gift illustrations for prospects and advisors from Sharp Healthcare Foundation as needed.
Ensure the acknowledgment and tracking of all planned gifts.
Provide financial information and/or documentation to audit and finance departments as needed.
Ensure a minimum of one planned giving article published in each Spotlight newsletter.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent interpersonal skills, Effective written and oral communications skills.
- Thorough knowledge of all the mechanics and aspects of charitable gift planning arrangements.
- Ability to perform duties in a timely manner.
- Must know how to use Wordperfect, Microsoft Word, and Crescendo software programs.
- Abides by ethical standards of AFP, AHP, and PPP.
- Successful history of promoting large and deferred gifts.
