The Department of Library Services at Bridgewater State University is dedicated to meeting the needs of its communities, to updating its service models as pedagogies and librarianship evolve, to renewing the knowledge and skills of librarians and staff as practices change, to deploying new technologies to improve interactions with library users and to enhance user experiences. Successful candidates will be staff members who can work with their colleagues to help meet the mission of the department in serving and supporting our diverse campus community.The Clement C. Maxwell Library at BSU is open an average of 94 hours each week during the academic year. It is a busy, dynamic place with classrooms, academic and administrative offices throughout the building. The library serves all BSU students, faculty, staff, researchers from across the country and world, as well as the residents of the surrounding communities.

Position Summary
The Department of Library Services invites applications for two temporary part-time Research & Instruction Librarians. These are temporary, non-benefited position. This is a great way for a new MLS graduate to gain valuable experience with public services in an academic library. The position reports to the Head of Reference.TOUR OF DUTY: varies. 10 hours a week. May include weekend and/or evening hours as needed

TemporaryEssential Duties
* Provide reference and research services to Bridgewater State University students, faculty, and staff, as well as to community users, which includes but is not limited to instructing users how to search the library's catalog, print resources, electronic databases, and other available information sources.* Instruct classes in research strategies, information ethics, information discovery, library resources, and resource analysis.* Respond to inquiries in-person, by phone, email, and by Chat.* May assist with outreach and marketing activities under the direction of the chair of the Marketing Committee.* Other duties as assigned, including but not limited to working collaboratively with other librarians and/or staff on projects related to library services or programs.Required Qualifications
- Relevant work experience sufficient to meet the responsibilities of this position.
- Graduate degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program or current enrollment in such a program.
- Library work experience is expected
- Effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills including the ability to interact tactfully and skillfully with a wide variety of individuals in a diverse work environment.
- Knowledge of print, electronic, and network-based information resources, and technologies.
- Ability to use technology effectively.
- Adaptability
- Commitment to customer service excellence.
- Experience teaching library instruction classes or other teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with basic concepts in teacher education and educational pedagogies and practices.
