The Department of Sociology at Bridgewater State University helps students cultivate their sociological imagination, the ability to understand how individual and group behavior is shaped by historical and social forces; how individual problems, including their own, are related to broader social structures, including global ones; and how to work towards resolving issues of exclusion and inequality and to move towards social justice. By studying sociological theory and research students hone their critical thinking skills, enabling them to participate effectively in professional, personal, and public life in the increasingly connected, globalizing world. Students graduating with a degree in sociology from BSU will be able to think critically about the problems and potentials of a diverse society and use qualitative and quantitative research skills to envision solutions to social problems. Essential Duties
The Department of Sociology at Bridgewater State University seeks qualified Part Time Faculty for the Spring 2025 semester who are enthusiastic teachers and dedicated to working with undergraduates.Candidates must possess the ability to teach Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, or Global Social Problems.
Candidates must be able to teach in-person, on campus.
Candidates must demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of students from diverse backgrounds with a wide range of abilities.
Required Qualifications
MA in Sociology or a related field.If the degree is in a field other than Sociology, a minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in Sociology is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the university level is preferred.Special Conditions for Eligibility
