How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Operations Team, you will be responsible for leading a team to safely assemble all products to Wabtec’s quality standards. The Supervisor is also responsible for ensuring that their team is working efficiently and effectively, providing high quality products and customer service to Wabtec’s customers. The Supervisor will be responsible for supporting change management within the Emporium Facility whether that is driven from Capital Investment, Rearrangement, New Product Introduction, Continuous Improvement, or other initiatives. You will support the daily operations of the area to ensure reliability and consistency. This position requires being a change agent and building a team atmosphere. In this position, the candidate will need to use influence to get all vested parties working towards the same goal. This position requires working onsite. This position reports to the Site Plant Manager.
What do we want to know about you?
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with 4 years of experience in Manufacturing).
- Ability to work independently.
- Strategic and creative thinking to analyze issues that may arise and create solutions.
- Basic shop math skills in all units of measure, along with ability to read and use gauges and measuring instruments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while having a high degree of attention to details.
- Knowledge of production/materials control system.
- Demonstrated ability to meet operating targets (preferably in manufacturing environment).
- Understanding of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing concepts and production schedules.
- Strong organization skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to influence, motive, coach, and drive accountability.
What will your typical day look like?
- Supervise staff including hiring, employee communications, training, discipline, evaluation and terminations responsibilities.
- Drive customer satisfaction through detailed focus on product reliability. Provide direction and support for an assigned hourly production team encompassing EHS, Quality, Material, Process, and Delivery.
- Lead and support all Continuous Improvement Activities.
- Help motivate all employees in his/her production team to perform their duties using established procedures to meet or exceed goals.
- Planning, creating, and executing production plans for all shifts, based on the MRP plan, customer requirements, manpower (hours) and equipment availability, part availability, and develop recovery plans when demand is not met.
- Ownership of the department’s equipment, tooling, fixtures, key manufacturing processes, products and productivity.
- Monitor material inventory and work with Procurement/Planning to ensure material flow/stock supports production schedules.
- Ensure all company policies are followed and take corrective actions accordingly.
- Work with the Team Leads to develop and execute training plans for all operators to ensure they have the skills needed to do their jobs and are sufficiently cross trained to optimize resource usage safely and correctly.
- Provide clear and accurate communication to the work group. Ensure follow-up on issues and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and solve operation problems when identified.
- Promote culture of teamwork, continuous improvement, and collaborate problem solving.
- Identify opportunities to increase employee engagement, motivation, and collaboration across work group.
- Ensure compliance to JSA’s, SOP’s, and drive work order completion and material controllership.
- Drive lean and digital mindset with work group through implementation of 5s, visual management, and support of brilliant factory initiatives.
- Monitor and maintain safety procedures and conditions to prevent accidents and provide a safe workplace.
- Responsible for all Time and Attendance functions.
What about the physical demands of the job?
- Exposure to shop floor requires wearing PPE.
- Walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting is all part of the hands-on learning process.
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location.
