Job Summary
Must be eligible for Work Study Fall 2024. These are positions with an off campus agency. Both positions will work directly with the Executive Director and will work in concert with the Board of Directors. The Administrative position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, committee management, and CRM system administration. The Marketing and Promotion position provides hands-on experience in marketing, promotions, and media coordination by assisting in the creation and distribution of promotional materials, helping manage media relations, and playing an active role in developing and coordinating social media content.
Responsibilities*
Administrative Position
CRM System Management
- Update and maintain the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system to ensure accurate and up-to-date donor and stakeholder information.
- Assist in generating reports and analyzing data to support decision-making processes.
Committee Design and Implementation
- Assist in designing and implementing committees for specific projects or organizational initiatives. Conduct research necessary to help crate committee charters.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and draft minutes to facilitate effective committee operations.
Grant-making Development
- Support the development and execution of grant-making opportunities.
- Conduct research on potential grantees and assist in proposal review and follow-up.
- Assist with grant stewardship tasks as required.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and organizing files and documents.
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and other communication materials.
Marketing and Promotion Position
Promotional Materials Design and Distribution
- Assist in the creation of digital and print marketing materials (flyers, brochures, graphics, etc.) for various campaigns and events.
- Coordinate the distribution of promotional materials through online channels, email newsletters, and physical outlets.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure that materials align with the brand identity and campaign goals.
Media Coordination
- Assist with media outreach, including drafting press releases, coordinating interviews, and managing media inquiries.
- Maintain and update media contact lists, ensuring timely communication and relationship-building with key outlets.
- Help track media coverage and create media reports to assess the success of promotional efforts.
Social Media Content Development
- Support the development and scheduling of social media posts across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter (X), LinkedIn, and others.
- Assist in curating engaging content that promotes our brand, events, and initiatives while driving engagement and audience growth.
- Monitor social media trends and analytics to optimize content and strategy.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide general marketing support, including writing copy for website content, newsletters, and email campaigns.
- Assist with planning and executing promotional events or online marketing campaigns.
- Collaborate with the foundation team on special projects and provide creative input. Assist with special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications*
Administrative Position
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with Microsoft Access and CRM systems preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Marketing and Promotion Position
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong design skills with experience in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) or Canva.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with social media platforms and a good understanding of social media trends and metrics.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Modes of Work
Onsite
The work requires, or the supervisor approves a fully onsite presence. Onsite is defined as a designated U-M owned or leased work location within or outside of the State of Michigan
