Responsibilities*
Responsibilities include quality control and patient testing using automated and manual methods, blood component testing and preparation as well as blood component issue. The technologist will perform refrigerator rounds in 3 hospitals. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of good manufacturing practices and possess excellent customer service skills.
Required Qualifications*
In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or biological science is required or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated successful clinical experience as well as certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist or the ability to be certified by BOC.
- Must have the demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively with other medical personnel in both verbal and written form.
- Demonstrated ability to independently organize and prioritize work and to exercise initiative in recognizing and solving problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse team.
Desired Qualifications*
Previous experience in Blood Banking is desirable.
Work Schedule
This full time, 40 hour position is on the night shift and will include rotating holidays and weekends with other staff.

This position is included in the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which represents bargaining unit members in all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
