Medical Assistant - Primary Care
Reston, VA
MUST:
The medical assistant must have the following experience:
3+years of medical assistance experience in an primary care, internal medicine or concierge practice
Registered or certified preferred or willing to become so
Experience administering injections and EKG s
Performing visual acuity and hearing tests
Administering flu/strep/covid tests
Processing prescriptions, obtaining pre authorizations and referrals
Experience following up with patients and communicating test results
Assisting providers with exams and procedures
Scheduling appointments
Documenting information in EMR (Athena experience a plus)
Strong writing and communication skills
DUTIES:
The duties of the medical assistant include but are not limited to the following:
Room patients and obtain vitals
Record chief complaints
Relay messages to staff/providers
Verify patient information and record in medical records
Triage patients
Provide patient education
Create correspondence and assist patients with medical form
Request medical records from other physicians offices
Perform in office testing as directed
Administer vaccines and handle medication administration
Perform EKG s, urine dipsticks, visual acuity, hearing test, flu/strep/COVID testing and INR
Obtain pre-certifications and authorizations and referrals
Process prescriptions
Communicate test results to patients.
Provide support to providers/patients with daily tasking received via phone/email from patients.
Clean and sterilize rooms
Document patient information in Athena EMR
