Position: Medical Assistant, Referrals Support
Medical Assistant/Referrals and Authorizations (Salinas/Prunedale)
Seeking a well qualified Medical Assistant to support a family doctor group in our Salinas and Prunedale offices.
JOB DUTIES: Understanding medical care and workflow to prioritize patient needs, set the agenda and set up the visit note in the EHR, working by protocol to decide on needed vaccines, and follow the doctor/PA's requests to set up labs and procedures.
Vaccination administration
Perform EKGs and audiometry.
Experience with electronic health record, preferably eMDs
Prepare patients for physician evaluation (e.g., room patient, take vitals, etc.).
Interview patients, measure vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and record information on patients' charts.
Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients. Assure prompt patient flow.
Perform various other functions as assigned by the Lead MA/Physicians including authorizations and referrals process back up, completion of forms, outreach for scheduling visits, monitor and order supplies, close gaps in preventive care and assist receptionist as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Certified MA with at least 2 years experience in a similar setting. Must respond sympathetically and maturely to patient needs. Bilingual in Spanish and English required. Effective communication skills in both written and spoken English. Please no externs or new graduates.

Compensation: range of $20 to $24 an hour depending on experience
