Position Overview
The New Product Engineer is responsible for establishing robust and repeatable manufacturing specifications for all new designs throughout their development lifecycle. The New Product Engineer will work alongside the NPI Project Leads who oversee the project management and timeline management portion of the development. The New Product Engineer will ultimately be responsible for providing their cross-functional team members with initial route recommendations and providing manufacturing offsets while verifying the calculations for all processes. The Engineer and Project Leads will partner to ensure Hard Prototypes and Production Test Runs match the critical requirements outlined in the JDIW-supplied CRD documentation.
Key Accountabilities
Work safely at all times by consistently following safe work procedures for your position as well as all safety procedures required at your work site. Promptly report all incidents and safety issues to your supervisor/manager. Adhere to all safety requirements. Provide safety leadership among co-workers.
Support the NPI Development Process for new product development and dual-sourcing projects. Lead the engineering phases during development and support Process Engineering during launch. Responsible for the creation of product-specific work instructions by working with manufacturing and process engineering teams.
Maintain overall engineering plans for each new product/project. Work with cross-functional team members to determine the manufacturing plans at the initial kickoff phases and provide timely updates during development.
Collaboration: Facilitate cross-department collaboration between team members and various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. Stakeholders include, but are not limited to CAD/CAM, Quality Departments, Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Finance, and the JDIW.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or five years of related experience
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects
- Strong communication skills: verbal, written, and presentation
- Proficiency or comfort with CAD software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, and OneNote)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Multilingual (Spanish)
- Knowledge of modern jewelry manufacturing techniques
- Understanding of basic statistical tools: Minitab is preferable
- Six Sigma Certification
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
