As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your team’s actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.

The IT International eCommerce Sustained Engineering and Support teams work around the clock to ensure maximum uptime and reliability of web and mobile eCommerce platforms for Costco in the international space. In addition to core leadership responsibilities, the Manager of this globally distributed team will ensure the team’s strategies and efforts are aligned with business goals, initiatives, and KPIs. Qualified candidates will have a strong sense of urgency and a track record of successful deliveries. They will be particularly skilled in the areas of partnership, negotiation, influence, vendor management, team leadership, and strategic thinking.

ROLE

MEMBER SERVICE: Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.

ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, able to research and explain budget variances.

MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill and ability.

COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgment, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.

● Leads the efficient and high-quality execution of the department’s incident, problem, and knowledge management processes aligned with industry best practices and process frameworks, such as ITIL.

● Collaborates with external vendors and service providers to ensure timely and effective resolution of issues.

● Acts promptly during critical incidents to minimize downtime and coordinate with relevant stakeholders as necessary.

● Manages ecommerce-related user and system administration responsibilities for all international markets.

● Owns the overall design and execution of the department’s Support Model and associated 24/7 daily operations.

● Manages and guides a specialized team of object-oriented programmers responsible for delivering digital solutions to multiple international markets on fluid timelines using various languages and tools.

● Leads the identification, prioritization, technical development and delivery of features and/or bugs aligned with department long-term roadmaps, goals, and objectives.

● Partners closely with Business, Development, Technical Operations and Quality Assurance to execute the successful, smooth, and regular deployment of production code against high department standards.

● Translates strategy into real outcomes, focusing on delivering incremental value, capabilities, and continuous improvement.

● Defines, measures, publishes, reviews, and acts on key performance indicators and areas of improvement.

● Ensures comprehensive documentation of IT systems, processes, and procedures for reference and training purposes.

● Encourages and models a culture of continual learning and professional development through coaching, mentorship, and overall career development activities.

● This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).

REQUIRED

● 5+ years’ experience leading eCommerce, International, or other IT software development/ support teams.

● Experience with ITSM processes (incident, problem, change), such as within an industry-recognized framework like ITIL.

● Excellent organizational and planning skills with a proven track record for building successful strategic and tactical plans.

● Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills; able to effectively gain agreement from and work with people at all levels.

● Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in an environment with frequent change.

● Strong leadership, team-building, and professional development skills.

● Self-motivated, ambitious, and independent contributor with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

● Strong work ethic, extreme responsiveness, and sense of urgency.

● Able to support off hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities.

● Must be able to travel internationally and align work hours to accommodate global time zone differences as needed.

● HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).

Recommended:

● Experience working on the SAP Commerce platform leveraging Java and Javascript programming languages.

● Experience in managing and overseeing an eCommerce solution that is classified as SaaS and used by multiple countries.

● Experience working as a software developer or managing a software development team.

● ITSM certification or experience managing an IT support team.

Pay Range: $137,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
