As a member of the IT Management Team, you are responsible for managing, developing, and leading a team of employees. Your role includes leading the specific functional responsibilities of your team, which involves overseeing team performance and deliverables. However, your role as a leader within our organization requires more than the management of resources and day-to-day operations. As a steward of the company, you are charged with the development and execution of your team’s strategic vision and plan and ensuring that your team’s actions align with the larger goals of the company and the IT Division.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead one of our talented engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of developing complex distributed systems, DevOps, and CI/CD implementations. You will be responsible for driving best practices, mentoring & developing software engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software solutions.

As the primary conduit between your employees and upper leadership, your role in communicating and modeling the values and guiding principles of our company culture is of vital importance. ROLE

MEMBER SERVICE: Provides and ensures staff provides an exceptional member experience.

ADMINISTRATION: Ensures proper department coverage (writing schedule and break aids if needed). Understands department budget, able to research and explain budget variances.

MANAGING PERFORMANCE: Coaches and mentors employees to provide support and guidance. Has regular open and honest conversations with employees to discuss work performance and career development. Identifies learning opportunities to strengthen employee knowledge, skill and ability.

COMMUNICATION: Regularly shares information with employees via meetings and one-on-one conversations. Successfully navigates difficult conversations with employees, members, and suppliers. Listens, expresses empathy and adapts to get points across. Addresses issues immediately to ensure a timely resolution and to avoid escalating the situation. Consistently demonstrates business knowledge during interactions with senior management.

SELF-MANAGEMENT: Demonstrates sound judgment, taking a partner when necessary. Ability to maintain self-control in the face of hostility or provocation or in intense, hectic situations.

COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY: Takes measures to ensure employee and member information is kept confidential and adheres to IS security policy.

Multi-Cloud Engineering Management:

● Oversees the architecture, deployment, and management of cloud services across Azure and GCP.

● Ensures seamless integration and interoperability between the Azure and GCP environments.

● Develops strategies for optimizing cloud infrastructure to achieve cost efficiency and performance.

AI Integration & Automation:

● Leads the implementation and continuous improvement of Copilot / Gemini for cloud service deployment automation.

● Ensures robust CI/CD pipelines are in place to support rapid and reliable deployments.

● Works closely with development teams to integrate automation best practices into the deployment process.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

● Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including development, operations, and security, to align cloud strategies with business goals.

● Acts as a liaison between the engineering team and senior leadership.

Technical Expertise:

● Provides technical guidance and oversight on cloud architecture, deployment practices, and automation tools.

● Troubleshoots complex cloud issues and implement effective solutions.

● Stays up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement.

● Oversees and directs the design and implementation of software projects, ensuring they meet business goals and deadlines.

● Maintains current knowledge of software delivery practices (i.e., release/deployment, code review, unit and QA testing).

● Coordinates with various stakeholders and peers to ensure no impact .

● Oversees the design and implementation of distributed systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Champion DevOps and CI/CD practices, automating and streamlining the software delivery process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and prioritize project requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.

● Manages multiple work streams and stakeholders’ expectations effectively.

● Stays up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating them into the team’s practices as appropriate.

● Monitors and evaluates team performance, providing regular feedback and conducting performance reviews.

● Manages and aligns to product backlogs and prioritization working with PO and SMs.

● Partners with Information Security teams and management to drive adherence to security compliance, metrics, and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).

● Partners with the management team to identify the organizational impact (skills, processes, structures, or culture) and financial impact of the cloud solution architecture.

● Hires, trains and tracks performance of top-talent Engineers throughout the Cloud Organization.

● Drives a culture of diversity, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and openness.

● This is a full-time management/leadership position (45+ hours per week).

REQUIRED

● 10+ years’ experience developing and deploying highly available multi-cloud services and applications

● Product oriented engineering mindset delivering custom built solutions leveraging modern engineering principles

● A proponent of 12-factor app

● 4+ years’ experience working within the product engineering ecosystem in a managerial role.

● A minimum of 5+ of hands on experience as an engineer developing microservices and accelerators in a cloud environment

● Deep knowledge of complex patterns, distributed systems, DevOps and CI/CD practices.

● Strong understanding of software development best practices and methodologies.

● Experience with fully automated, secure, and compliant deployments on a scale of hundreds or thousands per day.

● Expertise in migrating heterogeneous compute workloads to hosted container platforms (i.e Kubernetes, OpenShift)

● Exceptional negotiator with the ability to influence and gain buy-in from diverse teams.

● Proven track record of developing junior software engineers into advanced roles.

● Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions.

● Expertise in one or more modern programming languages (i.e. Java, C#, Python, GoLang, TypeScript)

● Expertise in common development frameworks (i.e. Angular, node.js, .Net, Java, GoLang).

● Significant Experience with Infrastructure as Code, Reference Architectures, and Landing Zones.

● Ability to maintain an executive presence, a high level of professionalism, and a focused commitment to excellence.

● HIPAA Training and Supervisors Orientation (within 30 days of hire); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of promotion).

Recommended:

● Development experience in a multi-public cloud environment.

● Knowledge on networking and DNS concepts.

● Skills on Code and IaC scans to secure environments.

● Iterative Product Development skills.

Pay Range: $137,000 - $200,000, Bonus and Restricted Stock Unit (RSU) eligible
