The Lead 2 will direct work activities determined by the Operations Supervisor or equivalent in support of the day's production goals. This includes the written work instructions, verbal instructions, and other tasks as assigned in support of in-house boat production and external customer service orders. The position is a solutions-based working lead position which includes building and assembling boats/components in addition to leading the work of the other team members throughout an assigned part of the assembly floor.
Essential Job Functions
- Plan and assign work to the other station employees ensuring the workload is equally distributed and that all station members are engaged and actively working during all work hours.
- Lead and support all station members ensuring that the work is done safely, correctly and within takt time
- Ensures quality work is done by all team members, completes production paperwork, checklists, or inspection sheets and signs off that work is done correctly when the boat leaves their station.
- Serves as the first level leader and works to quickly resolve staffing, production, part availability, and quality issues raised by their station team members.
- Responsible for elevating all personnel, production and quality issues that they are not able to resolve themselves.
- Lead trainer for that station responsible for new hire and rotation training.
- Key part in problem solving and implementing solutions to address quality issues that occur in their station.
- Collects, organizes and submits work or process improvement ideas and assists in implementing them.
- Will assist in inventorying parts, part consumption reporting and identifying parts shortages prior to running out of parts.
- Lead will ensure all required maintenance and daily checks are performed on all station equipment.
- Assists in rework and repair activities, some of which will be after regular work hours or on overtime.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly station and work area and ensure all employees are wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
- ERP (Epicor) proficient. Able to perform all tasks of assembly technicians plus basic BOM queries
- Performs other duties as assigned. * Plan and assign work to the Lead 1's or other station Assembly Technicians ensuring the workload is equally distributed and that all stations (and their members) are engaged and actively working during all work hours to include OT
- Serves as an approachable leader/mentor on the line and works to quickly resolve staffing, production, part availability, and quality issues raised by their team members.
- Gives additional direction for station trainers responsible for new hire and rotation training.
- Works with Lead 1's to collect, organize and submit process improvement ideas and aids in implementation
- Gives direction to part inventory and consumption and ID's shortages prior to minimums being exceeded.
- Drafts/delivers personnel administrative documents with assistance from Manager or delegate including:
o Mid-term feedbacks
o End-of-year performance appraisals
o Corrective action documentation
- ERP (Epicor) advanced user, able to identify BOM, inventory, efficiency, etc. problems and suggest solutions
- Well-versed in Root Cause Analysis and able to collaborate with different departments for solutions
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Solid understanding of machines and tools used in that station

Education and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; associate degree or technical certification preferred
- 6 months boat building experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
- Must be able to see details at close range.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to read work instructions and drawings.
- Must be able to work at a fast pace.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.
