Responsibilities*
Participates in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care under the direction of a Registered nurse.
- Provide nursing care to patients within the YHC Specialty Clinics
- Per protocol, complete specified tasks related to prescription renewal.
- Participate in process improvement activities, including the processes associated with prescription renewal.
- May include direct patient care including; immunizations, injections, wound care, suture removals, patient flow, and documentation (list is not comprehensive).
- Complete FMLA, disability, DME and assisted living forms/, result notes etc
- Assist with quality care initiatives/BPAs.
- Partner with the Registered Nurse Team to support the patient phone call management function of the health center.
- Participate in the use of protocols at the direction of the Registered Nurse or Physician.
- Assist in day-to-day clinic operations. Assist RN and MD staff as appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement, staff meetings to enhance patient care.

Required Qualifications*
- Graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing
- Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan.

This position requires extensive standing/ walking as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or transferring of patients.

Desired Qualifications*
- Minimum of one year of ambulatory care experience.
- Bilingual- Spanish
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of UMHS Policies and Procedures.
- Efficient in EMR; i.e. MiChart, Epic Program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinic setting.
- Ability to solve problems and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Computer skills and knowledge related to test and procedures.
- Demonstrated commitment to Ypsilanti community
- Volunteer or work experience in / with Ypsilanti Community
- Demonstrated experience with community health care
Work Schedule
- Hours/Week: 20 hours/week (full time).
- Shift/Hours/Days: Day Shift; Mon-Fri, (hours are variable), due to patient needs and volume demands weekends and holidays.
- The building hours will be 7am-7:30pm so there will be options for 8 and 10 hour shifts.

Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.
