Job Summary

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Von Voigtlander Women's Clinic provides consultation, comprehensive treatment and a broad range of services and procedures for patients with normal and high-risk pregnancies and for a broad range of gynecologic services.  The clinic team includes physicians, mid-level providers, nurses, medical assistants, social workers, dieticians, as well as a multifunctional administrative/clerical team.

Responsibilities*

?    Provide safe, effective, and individualized nursing care in an ambulatory care OBGYN clinic setting under the direction of a registered nurse. 
?    Provide nursing care according to the established institutional and unit policies.
?    Provide the delivery of culturally sensitive, age-specific team-based care models in delivering nursing care for primary care patients, including adult medicine, pediatric, and OB/GYN patient populations.
?    Perform nurse visits (in person/video visit)
?    Assist with in-clinic procedures including, but not limited to, Laminaria's and other gynecology procedures. 
?    Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care. 
?    Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources. 
?    Observe patient status, report and document changes and nursing care given.
?    Administer and document medications according to established standards.
?    Initiate appropriate measures in emergencies.
?    Instruct patients and families according to a teaching plan established by a Registered Nurse.
?    Participate in unit staff meetings for problem-solving, planning, and improvement of patient care.
?    Assist in quality assurance activities.
?    Process patient care orders using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas including prescription refills and durable medical equipment. 
?    Other duties as assigned could include but are not limited to OB intakes, wound care, suture/staple removal, results reporting, weight checks, blood pressure checks, injections, catheter insertion and removal, voiding trials, and specimen collection.
?    Work collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, and ancillary services to provide high-quality, effective patient care.

?    Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
?    Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
?    Willingness to adapt to different populations, i.e., pediatrics, OB/GYN, and adult medicine, as patient demands. 
?    Demonstrated accountability and dependability, for example, completion of work, mandatories, and goal setting within established timelines.

Required Qualifications*

?    Graduation from an approved school for practical nursing is necessary.
?    Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan is necessary. 
?    Minimum of one (1) year of recent (within the last five (5) years) experience in ambulatory care.
?    BLS certificationNOTE: Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.

Desired Qualifications*

?    Greater than one (1) year LPN experience
?    Ambulatory care LPN experience in Women's Health
?    Experience performing New Patient Obstetric Intakes
?    Additional specialty GYN ambulatory care experience in Vulvar, Peds GYN, Transgender Patients, Minimally Invasive Surgery, URO/GYN, and Chronic Pelvic Pain 
?    Experience with MiChart, EPIC, Cisco Finesse, Word, and Excel

Work Schedule

Hours/Week: 32 hours (0.8 FTE)
Shift/Hours/Days: Day shift (8-hour shift); Monday-Friday. Depending on patient and volume needs, hours and days may be variable (nontraditional, including further weekends/holiday commitments).
Location: Von Voigtlander OBGYN Clinic and other work locations as needed to support patient populations seen in different locations.

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
