OVERVIEW
The Leave & Workers Compensation Administrator is responsible for coordinating and administering all leaves of absences, disability, and workers compensation policies and processes in compliance with all federal and state laws. They administer and communicate leave policies including FMLA notification, certification and tracking, handle ADA requests, and serve as the primary point of contact for workers compensation claims. Additionally, they provide general customer service and respond to team member and management inquiries regarding all aspects of leave administration, requests for accommodations, and workers compensation.
JOB DUTIES
- Manage full-cycle leave management process which includes oversight and administration of all leave workflow for US and Canadian team members, including but not limited to FMLA/CFRA, ADA, STD, LTD, military, personal, and other leaves covered under the ESA
- Ensure accurate administration of the company's disability, leave, and time off programs by interpreting leave policies, coordinating with workers' compensation and ADA, where applicable
- Effectively present leave information and respond to questions from team members at all levels
- Stay abreast of State and Federal leave requirements and ensure company compliance with the provisions of the FMLA, ADA, ADAAA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, FLSA and the Department of Labor (DOL) or Canadian Employment Standards Act of 2000
- Responsible for the administration of the interactive process related to the ADA
- Ensure compliance with leave management practices and applicable laws
- Assist in administering workers compensation claims, including coordination of return-to-work for team members receiving workers compensation benefits
- Ensure timely reporting of claims to workers compensation vendor(s) by serving as a point of contact for workers compensation claims
- Administer all aspects of workers compensation claims, including coordination of return-to-work for team members receiving workers compensation benefits
- Ensure proper pay for team members on leave in partnership with payroll team
- Monitor benefit premiums payment for team members on leave and coordinate premium collection activities with third-party administrator
- Generate reporting metrics and analytics for time off, leave, and work comp programs
- Responsible for remaining current in the area of state statutory workers compensation laws and OSHA reporting requirements
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (Preferred)
- 2 years hands-on experience working in leave of absence management role
- 3 years human resources experience
- 1 year workers compensation administration experience
- 6 months experience providing guidance and interpretation of HR policies and procedures to team members
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
- Thorough knowledge and application of leave and workers compensation guidelines in both the United States and Canada
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Advanced computer proficiency including the ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite, leave of absence and workers comp management online software, HRIS, email, and internet
- Ability to respond to business needs after normal business hours
