About the Role
OVERVIEW
Wellington Management sponsors and sub-advises a broad array of products ranging from traditional long only funds to alternative strategies, including hedge funds & private equity. Fund Services is responsible for the financing, accounting, and operations for these investment funds. Fund Services is comprised of several teams: 1) Fund Control & Operations; 2) Fund Treasury & Custody, 3) Fund Infrastructure & Analysis, and 4) Fund Reporting & Audit. The Lead Fund Controller will be a member of the Fund Reporting & Audit, US Funds team which has the primary responsibility of overseeing the successful completion of annual fund financial statement audits and regulatory filings. This role will require frequent interaction and collaboration with other Wellington teams and service providers (Prime Brokers, Fund Administrators, Auditors etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Review annual financial statements for a book of registered mutual funds and collective investment funds
· Oversee the annual audit process for assigned funds, coordinating with the fund administrator and auditors
· Oversee the production and review of the semi-annual financial statements and monthly/quarterly regulatory reporting for assigned funds
· Assist with process improvement efforts by helping to identify, develop and implement enhancements
· Serve as a technical subject matter expert, analyzing and resolving complex issues and responding to inquiries on a broad array of topics
· Lead and support projects associated with the funds, Wellington’s operational and systems infrastructure and service providers
· Contribute to enhancing internal controls and process documentation
· Oversee and/or perform a variety of accounting, operational, and financing activities
· Develop and manage relationships with Wellington’s centralized teams and external service providers
QUALIFICATIONS
· College undergraduate degree, preferably in accounting, finance, or business
· 4+ Year of experience from a public accounting firm, alternative investment firm, and/or fund administrator
· CPA strongly preferred
· Proficient knowledge of US GAAP and ability to research and apply technical accounting and financial statement presentation rules
· Very strong attention to detail and analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
· Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with other individuals
· A natural curiosity and desire to expand one’s knowledge and role
· Strong core IT skillset and ability to work effectively with a variety of IT applications (ie. Access, Alteryx, etc), as well as the ability to self-learn additional IT skills over time
· Ability to work independently and solve problems

Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits. The base salary range for this position is:
USD 80,000 - 180,000This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.
Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
