Summer Internship Program
Our 10-week program is designed to increase future employment potential for prospects while providing a valuable resource to the business. This Summer Internship will appeal to proactive and self-motivated college
juniors/seniors with a genuine desire to learn about the energy business and industry. During the internship,
candidates will work on real projects and have real responsibilities. NRG aims to help candidates build strengths,
gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace, and stand out from the crowd.
Ideal Candidate
The Talent/Human Resources Intern will be based in Houston, TX reporting to the Director, Talent Business Partners - Corporate. We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and driven summer intern to assist our HR department with administrative and HR-related tasks. This internship will have a focus on learning the various HR functions and will work on ongoing projects and tasks that drive business outcomes.
Talent/HR Intern Responsibilities include:
- Understand the various functions of Human Resources/Talent and Culture at NRG through job shadowing, coaching, and development opportunities.
- Understand and apply various HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance and effective HR operations.
- Participate actively in ongoing and future HR projects, contributing ideas and supporting project implementation.
- Provide general administrative support to the HR department, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
- Conduct thorough compensation analyses related to career ladders within the business to support strategic HR decisions.
- Process requisitions, promotion requests, and other system transactions in Success Factors, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Create employment offer letters, promotion letters, and other administrative documents for the corporate Talent Business Partner Team.
- Provide constructive feedback on talent processes and the intern program, helping to identify areas for improvement.
- Present your projects and findings at the end of the internship program, showcasing your contributions and learning outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree discipline: pursuing a bachelor's in human resources or related degree
- Must have completed second year of college with a 3.0 GPA or higher
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
