$48.131 - $62.105 - $76.078The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant's years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Provides the technical knowledge, expertise and judgment required to support the Sharp Rees-Stealy (SRS) mission and scope of laboratory services.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Or
- Bachelor's Degree In Life Science.
- 5 Years Grossing simple and complex cases.
- 5 Years Mohs Surgery Histologist experience, processing complex cases.
Other Qualification Requirements
- Certified and/or Registered as CLS; or equivalent that requires a Bachelors degree and one year clinical internship; or HT ASCP; or PA ASCP. Department to track and maintain this requirement.
Essential Functions
- Analytical testing procedures
Completes processes without error using written policies, procedures and other appropriate resources; identifies issues in policies or procedures.
SRS corporate commitment to compliance training principles are correctly and appropriately utilized when performing assigned procedures as written.
Performs new procedures and policies within acceptable training time intervals; meets department turnaround time goals.
Documents activities and results consistently, thoroughly and legibly; proofreads and double checks own work to minimize errors.
Evaluates data for accuracy and verifies any questionable finding with thorough investigation and appropriate follow-through.
Performs or assists with pre-analytical and post analytical procedures and demonstrates assessment of testing factors with regard to patient age and population specific groups.
The histo/pathologist assistant is also responsible for the following duties: a) Maintaining the laboratory space in accordance with local, state, federal, and regulations; (b) Position requires the highest level of proficiency in all aspects of the Mohs surgical pathology procedure. Including performing the following procedures, and making the following decisions, which would otherwise be performed by a Pathologist:
Consultation on scheduling of procedures for patient and physician convenience and optimal clinical results. Perform appropriate/optimal gross dissection technique for all possible specimens received.
Determine the appropriate/optimal frozen sectioning procedure choice between: Routine Frozen Section, CCPDMA (complete circumferential deep margin assessment), or MOHS section in concert with the ENT and/or DERM surgeon.
Highest level of skill in performing the correct frozen section procedures on all types of tissue encountered in a clinical setting.
Determine any additional HistoChemistry procedures (if any) to be performed beyond the routine.
Daily consultation with the various physicians and staff involved in procedures to ensure that proper policies and procedures are followed.
Daily communication with the various departmental entities to ensure swift and proper transportation of specimens. - Communication and teamwork
