The Town of Wellesley Department of Public Works is seeking a Highway Division Superintendent to proactively manage the Town’s roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and snow and ice operations to provide the community with safe, reliable, resilient, and sustainable infrastructure.
The successful candidate will integrate and coordinate these functions to provide effective mobility for all modes of transportation within Town while also providing aesthetically pleasing public areas.
Primary responsibilities also include leading and developing an experienced and well trained crew and working with other DPW Divisions, Town Departments, and state agencies to achieve the DPW’s goals with effectiveness and efficiency.
The incumbent is on call at all times and routinely responds to emergencies and other work outside of regular work hours, especially for weather related events as needed.
The successful candidate will provide outstanding customer service and leadership; manage and develop a high-performing team; oversee daily operations including emergency responses; ensure regulatory compliance; and develop, prepare, and administer operating and capital budgets.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent; five years of managerial experience in municipal public works operations or equivalent; five years’ experience in road maintenance, drainage, and snow and ice operations; strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing and a Massachusetts Class D driver’s license.
Expected hiring range is up to $135,907 depending upon qualifications. Excellent municipal benefits.
