As the Director of Global Commercial Diagnostics, you will play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to generate positive outcomes and improve patient care. This role carries responsibility for commercial diagnostics across the indications of our launch brands.
Accountabilities
You will apply your knowledge and experience of diagnostics and precision medicine to drive the development of the Commercial Diagnostic Strategy for upcoming launches across solid tumor and hematology indications. You will be responsible for developing the commercialization strategy and marketing plan related to activities specific to the diagnostic, ensuring launch readiness, and implementing the diagnostic in alignment with the Global franchise brand plan.
You will work collaboratively with multiple partners, including the franchise commercial team, medical affairs, R&D, insights & analytics, market access, and other critical functions within Global and across key markets. During your activities, you will develop partnerships with external oncology customers and decision-makers through AZ's involvement with patient advocacy and policy groups, diagnostic developers, thought leaders, and HTA/payer organizations to help create best-in-class diagnostics capabilities aligned with the commercial needs of our portfolio.
This role requires a well-rounded commercial executive with demonstrated product-marketing capabilities, strong analytical skills, the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration, and hands-on leadership. A deep scientific and commercial understanding of the biomarker testing landscape in solid tumor and hematological cancers, as well as issues that may impact patient journeys and sample testing pathways, is important.
Your key objective is to ensure markets have effective and well-supported plans in place to drive Awareness, Adoption, Access, Availability, and Accuracy of biomarker testing to guide patient treatment. This role will allow you to lead key activities, work across multiple functions, and progress your career in precision medicine.
Essential Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree (business or life sciences)
10+ years of pharmaceutical and/or diagnostics marketing experience
Proven track record in launch and commercialization of diagnostic(s), particularly in oncology and hematology
Team-oriented leader with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to influence and lead at all levels of amatrix organization
Demonstrated track record of formulating Global commercial strategies and driving commercial tactics
Ability to problem-solve in a rapidly changing, competitive environment
Excellent analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to turn analysis into insight and action
Demonstrated ability to take an enterprise view in leading and facilitating discussions in cross-functional teams
Thorough understanding of drug development and commercialization processes
Desirable Skills/Experience
Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, MBA) is preferred
Global marketing experience, including diagnostic and therapeutic launch experience
In-market launch experience
Solid technical background in diagnostics development and biomarker science
The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $ 220,870.40 to $ 331,305.60. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
