These therapies are being targeted through four key platforms - immunotherapy, genetic drivers of cancer and resistance, DNA damage repair, and antibody drug conjugates, underpinned by personalized healthcare and biomarker technologies.

Join our Oncology Business Unit, which is leading the rapid business growth of our enterprise and ever-evolving industry to help deliver our 2030 Breast Cancer ambition to transform the lives of people living with breast cancer through our portfolio of therapies. As the Breast Cancer Congress Strategy Medical Lead, you will be an integral part of the Breast medical team, reporting to the Breast Cancer US Medical Franchise Head. Your role will involve developing the overall strategic priorities for all key Breast congresses, covering Small molecules and ADC assets indications. You will work collaboratively with the US Medical Leads, US commercial, GMA, and R&D teams to ensure accurate planning and execution, improving alignments and optimizing resources.

Introduction to Role:

Your responsibilities will include developing a strategic plan for regional and local Breast Cancer congresses to ensure effective execution. You will serve as the key point of contact on the US Breast Medical Team for all US and International Breast Cancer Congresses. As a Breast Cancer Congress Strategy Medical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in demonstrating our scientific capabilities to advance our priorities by successfully delivering a comprehensive medical congress plan. This will involve close collaboration with the US marketing, global medical affairs, and R&D teams. The role carries leadership responsibilities that are essential for achieving AZ business objectives and portfolio value targets. Working closely with the US Breast Cancer Medical Franchise Head, you will collaborate across the AZ Breast Cancer Franchise. You will be a critical part of the US Medical Franchise Team, enabling cross-functional teams to successfully deliver on and be accountable for supporting our approved early and late-stage assets for the Breast Cancer Congresses.

Accountabilities:

  • Effectively lead towards the implementation of the US Medical Breast Cancer Franchise congress strategy working closely with GMA/R&D/Field Medical/Commercial
  • Strategic leader who represents the US Medical Affairs Team leading Cancer Congress plans with input from the franchise and key strategic direction - working in a collaborative matrix environment to achieve TA goals
  • Working with medical leads & MSL leads to ensure scientific engagement awareness, mitigating duplications, and optimizing internally/externally key scientific breast engagements
  • Lead innovative initiatives to support the delivery of the above brand/franchise initiatives in support of Breast Congress strategy, encouraging collaboration to harmonize ways of working across the business
  • Optimize key HCP meetings at Top tier Breast Congresses with Medical and Marketing functions to meet key short- and medium-term enterprise needs
  • The point person for all medical events at congresses (e.g., ad boards and scientific exchange meetings)
  • Lead coordinated and unified insights debrief at congresses and post-congress
  • Work with MSL and HQ congress leads to develop a summary of key action items
  • Implement the congress playbook working closely with cross-functional team leads within the franchise and managing our planning Vendor.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Advanced degree in biological sciences and or medical training (Ph.D., MD., MSc, PharmD)
  • 5+ years of pharmaceutical and/or healthcare confirmed experience in one or more of the following areas: Medical Affairs HQ or MSL, strategic congress planning, and project management
  • Experience in developing/planning and tactically delivering short/long-term Congress US Medical strategic plans based on qualitative data in a rapidly evolving pharmaceutical environment.
  • Subject Matter Expert in the oncology/Breast Cancer Experience drug development process preferred
  • Ability to strategically develop and gauge feasibility, impact, and risks of programs
  • Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to operate in a highly regulated environment and ~30% travel required on weekends and during the week
  • Excellent strategic perspective, communication skills with an inspiring background of partnering with Medical/Global/Commercial cross-functional colleagues to provide value to customers

  • Ability to prioritize multiple partners

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $185,412.80 to $278,119.20. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
